Mayan Awakening :: Cacao, Fire and Yoga Ceremony

with Monica Graves

Sunday, October 2, 2016

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

In this Mayan Awakening Ceremony, we will call on the sacred Cacao deva Ixcacao, the transformational presence of Fire element, the detoxifying properties of gentle yogic movement, as well as the spirit of sound and energy healing, to create a powerful evening of heart opening, deeply healing, co-creative ancient ceremony!

We will begin by invoking the seven directions through traditional Mayan Prayer and enjoy a ceremonial portion of Cacao, which has been ritually prepared in love. As the cacao begins to work itself through our system, we will assist the opening and expansion of our Heart Chakra through collective yogic movement and guided astral journeying.

In a delicious extended savasana, receive a personal sound/aroma/reiki healing while we make space to journey deeper with the cacao deva, allowing her to reveal to us the beauty of our divine selves and releasing any energies and patterns that we have come to completion with.

SPACE IS LIMITED to 30 participants.

About Ceremonial Cacao:

According to both archeologists and Mayan spiritual elders, the Cacao Spirit was one of the most powerful deities in ancient Mayan cosmology. While the ancient Mayans and Aztecs of Southern Mexico and Guatemala are best known, there are contemporary Indigenous cultures in Central and South America who continue cacao use in shamanic ceremony, preferring it to locally available psychedelics. With today’s psychedelic buzz, you may not have heard much of them. Although one of this world’s finest spiritual or shamanic partners, cacao was ignored in the ‘60’s resurgence of medicine plants because it does not act like a psychedelic – it does not take you on its trip, but facilitates your own.

From Monica:

"I am an insatiable spirit nerd, who has been studying consciousness-based wisdom traditions for over a decade, and am an international certified teacher of meditation, yoga, Ayurveda and Reiki.

Vedic philosophy has been the cornerstone of my teachings, as I was a master educator with The Chopra Center for over 6 years. Nine months ago, I moved to Guatemala to study the Mayan Cosmovisión and ancient ceremonial practices of the Maya. It's been a wild ride!

With last year's launch of my company, Maha Veda Soul Journeys, I am exploring the juxtaposition of these ancient traditions to bring to you interactive, interesting workshops and retreats sure to be unlike anything you've experienced before. Let's journey together!"
